We should be able to void a sale to make it like it never happened, and then a return should be just that a return. We should be able to void layaways. Layaways should remain in the system not deleted when they are paid out.

Chris...what kind of store do you have? Clothing? Furniture?
I'm mostly clothing, toys, and some baby equipment, but I'm asked about layaway all the time. I'd love to hear from any clothing stores that allow layaways, how you store items on layaway, whether it is used often, and how your consignors respond when/if their items have been on layaway (i.e. off the sales floor) and then the layaway isn't completed.

Also: If you make a credit card deposit on a Layaway and you are using X-Charge it should print out a receipt for the customer to sign and one to keep.

We have layaway at my store (Kidz Planet). I require 20% down (non-refundable) and out within 30 days. but I'm happy to work with them for a few extra days (or week) if they need it. I make every effort to contact them so they don't lose their deposit, but if they don't come back within a reasonable amount of time the items are put back in inventory to sell again. I have a storage closet where I keep most of the layaways.

The Consignpro does not accept credit cards on layaway deposits. You have to indicate it is a credit card, but then have to ring it as a new sale and swipe the credit card then. If I am not correct I would love to know how to do it.

i love layaway. it always increases my sales...clothing, handbags and shoes...
when a customer is deciding between several items i always suggest putting some on layaway because they may never see the same item again...25% deposit. non refundable. they only have 2 weeks to pick up the item. If they put several on layaway they also have the option to pick up some or all of the items at a time. Tanya good luck.

I have problems with the layaways n credit cards, u do have to go into xcharge to run the card...it does not run it in drop down menu in layaway....Also it does not show in ur daily summary report..in other sales...but it does show in ur sales activity report...it would be nice to add money in layaway with out jumping threw hoops.
